Craven Castle - Letters to home
[In Maribelle's desk drawer, underneath her empty revolver, there is a pile of letters. Two are not sealed, but are addressed to Exalt Chrom and Princess Lissa.
On the top of the pile, however, there is a note.
To whomever might open this drawer,
Here I have laid some last messages to be delivered to the recipients in the event of my passing. If you should be searching my desk as part of the usual treatment of suspects at trial, please leave them be. I understand that these may be difficult to deliver, but if any chance arises I beg that you take it.
My best wishes to all of you,
Maribelle.

Princess Lissa
To my darling Lissa,
I am so sorry for the trials you have undergone because of my love for you. I cannot speak as to my relief that you were able to escape and I pray for your safety. Though I'm sure news of my passing will be difficult for your gentle heart, I beg you not to grieve for me but to merely keep the happy memories we shared safe in your heart. Know that I died with those same memories in mine, smiling at the thought of your shining face.
There are so many who love you that I am sure you will not be lonely, even if they lack the class and nobility I brought into your life. I trust you will stay strong without me and exceed the expectations one has for a woman of your standing, as you always have. Do you remember the ball where you first approached me and smiled? I knew instantly that I would be devoted to you always. It is my most treasured memory.
I shall admit that I have made other friends even during this terrible time that we have been apart. I love them dearly. I tell you this both because it is true and I know it shall please you to know I was not alone in the face of adversity. I hope the same is true for you, but at least I know that once you are safe at home you shall never be without protection or company.
I do not know what more I can say that might offer you some comfort so I shall end this letter with one final request. If you could please visit my father from time to time and offer him some company and comfort, I would appreciate it immensely. He is so very fond of you and I fear what shall become of him without my hand in his life. I was always so dreadfully jealous of you and your siblings for having each other but I never considered how difficult being an only child would make a situation such as this.
Forever your devoted friend,
Maribelle
Exalt Chrom
To the Exalt of Ylisse, Chrom,
I know you hesitated to take Emmeryn's title but as this letter is my last words to you I am afraid you have no choice but to accept it. We are friends enough for you to respect one of my final wishes, aren't we, Chrom? We Shepherds would follow you onto any battlefield, knowing you to be a wonderful captain, liege and man. You know I don't give out flattery so readily, so do take my words to heart.
But this letter is not for the cause of tender words and encouragement. I have two important tasks I must impart upon you. While going through this arduous few months, I have seen things I never thought possible. Things from our future. I know not what exactly will take place, now that I am no longer in it, or how it can be stopped but you must be warned. Mere years from now, some madman plans to resurrect the Fell Dragon and plunge our world into chaos. You must protect the Fire Emblem at all costs. That strange girl who called herself Marth is involved somehow, find her and follow her instructions. The future I saw cannot be allowed to pass.
But my second request is far more important than a mere prophetic dream. It concerns your sister, Lissa, who you know to be dearer to my heart than any other. Take care of her. I am aware that your new life brings many responsibilities and distractions, but do not allow yourself to forget her. She will be lonely. Lissa has always sought to make you proud of her and to meet the demands of her station, so don't allow her to doubt your love and admiration for her for one moment. If she sheds one tear due to your actions, my ghost shall wrack havoc upon you unlike any enemy you have ever faced before. Do not doubt my abilities, my lord. Has no one warned you about what happens when I lose my temper?
A third request has occurred to me as I write, I apologise for the earlier mistake. I am entrusting this letter to friends and comrades I have made through out this horrible experience. I care for them dearly and in the event that you meet them, for whatever reason, I ask that you honour them as guests and assist them in whatever they need. I am sure Lissa will insist upon it. One of them, named Klavier Gavin, made a terrible sacrifice at one point that may have saved her life and so I am sure you will agree with me that he deserves some reward, if it is at all possible.
Luck be with you, my liege. I am forever your loyal Shepherd.
